Lucknow Launches Double-Decker E-Buses During Navratri: Explore Best Attractions With Single Ticket

The Uttar Pradesh government is introducing double-decker electric buses in Lucknow during the Navratri festival, aiming to improve public transportation and reduce pollution in the city. The state's transport minister, Daya Shankar Singh, shared that the buses will start operating in the first week of October 2024 as part of an initiative to enhance the city's transport infrastructure.

Lucknow Launches Double-Decker E-Buses

The state's transport minister, Daya Shankar Singh, mentioned in an interview with PTI that double-decker buses would be launched in Lucknow during Navratri. He stated that the tendering process for around 100 buses, including double-decker models with a capacity of 65 passengers each, had already been completed. Singh further added that after the initial fleet of 100 buses, additional buses would be introduced. These buses will first operate in Lucknow before being expanded to other districts in the state.

Boost for Tourism

The double-decker buses have been designed not just for regular transportation but also to boost tourism in the city. Singh highlighted that tourists can purchase a single ticket and enjoy views of the city's famous attractions from the upper deck. Key landmarks like the Bhool Bhulaiya, Residency, and the Lucknow Zoo will be accessible with just one ticket, making sightseeing more convenient and enjoyable for visitors.

Affordable Fare Plans

Singh also mentioned that discussions are underway to ensure that ticket prices remain affordable for both residents and tourists. The goal is to make the buses an attractive option for anyone visiting or commuting in Lucknow.

Focus on Reducing Pollution

Introducing electric buses is part of a larger effort to make Lucknow more environmentally friendly. By using electric buses, the government aims to reduce emissions and promote a cleaner, more sustainable transportation system in the city. The government is also working on creating a strong charging infrastructure at over 2,000 locations, including petrol stations and bus depots, to support the electric buses.

Future Plans for Intercity Electric Buses

In addition to the double-decker buses, Singh announced that intercity electric buses are also in the works. These buses are expected to be utilized during major events like the Kumbh Mela next year, providing a green and efficient mode of transport between cities.

Convenient Ticket Booking

For those looking to experience these double-decker electric buses, tickets can be booked through several convenient methods:

1. Online: Book tickets through the official UPSRTC website or mobile app.

2. On-Site: Tickets can also be purchased at bus stands and depots in Lucknow for those who prefer in-person booking.

The buses will run daily from 3:00 PM to 10:00 PM, making it easy for both locals and tourists to travel around the city.

This initiative by the Uttar Pradesh government not only aims to improve transportation in Lucknow but also enhances the city's tourism experience, making it a more exciting and eco-friendly destination for all.
