The city's public transport system will offer extended services on New Year's Eve to help people travel safely and easily during the celebrations. To handle the expected rush, metro and bus services have been specially planned to run late into the night.

Mumbai Metro Line 3
The Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) has announced that Metro Line 3, also known as the Aqua Line, will run all night on December 31. Services will begin at 10.30 pm on New Year's Eve and continue till 5.55 am on January 1. After this, regular metro timings will resume. Running the metro through the night will help provide continuous connectivity during peak celebration hours and reduce problems faced by late-night travellers.
BEST's Initiative to Manage Festive Crowd
Along with the metro, the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) undertaking has also made arrangements to manage the festive crowd. BEST will deploy 25 extra buses on nine important routes across the city. These additional bus services will operate between 10 pm and 12.30 am, a time when large numbers of people are expected to travel to and from popular celebration spots.
Service of Special Buses
The special buses will mainly serve areas that see heavy footfall on New Year's Eve, such as the Gateway of India, Juhu Beach, Gorai Beach, and Marve Beach. The routes selected for these services include regular bus numbers 86, 203, and 231, along with several air-conditioned routes like A-21, A-112, A-116, A-247, A-272, and A-294. These routes cover key locations and help connect major public areas with residential neighbourhoods.
Heritage Bus Tours
In addition to regular and special services, BEST will also run its popular heritage bus tours. These tours will start at 5.30 pm on December 31 and continue till the early hours of January 1, giving residents and visitors a unique way to enjoy the city during New Year celebrations.
Moreover, these extended metro and bus services are aimed at ensuring smooth travel and public safety during the festive night.
