Kolkata Metro Commuters to Face Fewer Services on Friday due to a Special Timetable for Muharram

Kolkata Metro passengers may face fewer train services on Friday, June 26, because Metro Railway has announced a special timetable for Muharram. The reduced services will affect the Blue, Green, and Yellow lines. Passengers are advised to check the revised schedule and plan their travel.

Kolkata Metro Operations on Friday

According to a notice issued by Metro Railway on Wednesday, train services on these three corridors will be lower than the usual weekday schedule because of the public holiday. However, there is one relief for commuters: the timings of the first and last trains from terminal stations will remain the same on all the affected routes.

Kolkata Metro Blue Line

The Blue Line, which runs between Dakshineswar and Kavi Subhash and is the busiest Metro route in Kolkata, will operate 216 services on Friday. On a normal weekday, 260 services are usually run on this corridor. Even with the reduced number of trains, the first and last train timings will not change.

Kolkata Metro Yellow Line

On the Yellow Line, which connects Noapara and Jai Hind Bimanbandar, Metro Railway will run 92 services instead of the usual 120 weekday services. Here too, the first and last train timings will remain unchanged. Metro authorities also said that only four direct trains will run between Jai Hind Bimanbandar and Shahid Khudiram, while normally seven such direct services are available on a weekday.

Kolkata Metro Green Line

The Green Line, connecting Howrah Maidan and Salt Lake Sector V, will also see fewer services. It will have 186 trains instead of the regular 228 weekday services. The first and last trains on this line will also run at the usual times.

Kolkata Metro Purple & Orange Lines

Meanwhile, services on the Purple and Orange Lines will continue as normal, with no changes in schedule. Since fewer trains will run on the Blue, Green, and Yellow lines, passengers may face longer waiting times at some stations, especially during busy hours.
