Kochi Metro and Water Metro services will run for longer hours during the New Year period to manage the expected increase in passenger numbers, officials have said. These special arrangements are being made to help people travel safely and comfortably during the festive days.

Kochi Metro Train Routes
Metro train services on the Edappally-Aluva and Edappally-Tripunithura routes will be extended from December 26 to January 3. During this period, metro trains on these corridors will operate until 11 pm instead of the usual timings. On New Year's Eve, December 31, services will run even later to support late-night travel. Trains will operate at 20-minute intervals and continue until 1.30 am.
Metro Train Timings
As per the announced schedule, the last metro trains on New Year's night will leave from Aluva and Tripunithura stations at 1.30 am. From Edappally station, the final train will depart at 2 am, allowing passengers extra time to return home after celebrations.
Water Metro Services
Water Metro services will follow a slightly different plan on December 31. On that day, services on the High Court-Mattancherry, High Court-Vypin, and High Court-Fort Kochi routes will operate only until 7 pm. This early closure is part of the special New Year arrangements.
However, on New Year's night, Water Metro services on two key routes will restart after midnight. Boats on the High Court-Mattancherry and High Court-Vypin routes will resume services from 12 am and continue until 4 am on January 1. This will help late-night travellers move safely across these busy water routes after celebrations.
All other Water Metro routes will continue to operate according to their regular schedules. Overall, the extended metro and adjusted water transport services are aimed at reducing travel difficulties and ensuring smooth movement of people during the New Year festivities in Kochi.
