Work on the Kochi Metro's Pink Line, the second phase of the metro expansion, is moving ahead steadily after some earlier delays. Officials state that about 40% of the major civil construction work has now been finished, showing good progress early in 2026. The focus recently has shifted to completing

the foundations and structure needed to support the elevated rail line.
Pink Line Elevated Metro
The Pink Line will be an 11.2-kilometre elevated metro route with 11 stations. It is designed to connect the central parts of Kochi with growing residential and business areas in the east, including places like Infopark, CSEZ, and Kinfra.
Five Stations to be Opened
Officials aim to open five of these stations to passengers by June 2026. These are being prioritised so commuters can start using this stretch soon. The remaining parts of the Pink Line, including the rest of the stations and track, are targeted to be finished by the end of 2026.
Groundwork Going on
At present, groundwork such as piling is nearing completion, with nearly 80% of the piling done. Piling is the process that builds strong supports deep into the ground so the rest of the structure can safely stand. Construction of piers (vertical supports) and pier caps (horizontal supports for beams) is also underway, and work on girders, long beams that carry the rail track, has begun as well.
Station Construction
Station construction work at key locations, including Alinchuvadu, Vazhakala, CSEZ, Kinfra, Chembumukku, Civil Station, Infopark, Padamugal, and Palarivattom, is making progress, with foundation work complete at several of them and main structure building set to start soon.
Although the project faced some setbacks in 2025, authorities are pushing forward to meet their revised targets and bring improved public transport to a wider area of Kochi.
