Kochi Metro's Construction Packages

The contracts cover architectural, finishing, plumbing, and interior works at 10 elevated Metro stations along the new corridor. The total value of the two contract packages is Rs 100.3 crore. Godrej & Boyce secured both contracts after emerging as the lowest bidder, ahead of Crescent Contractors Pvt Ltd.

The first package is worth Rs 55.20 crore and includes work at five stations: Civil Station Junction, Cochin SEZ, Chittethukara, Kinfra Park, and Infopark. The contractor will complete block work, plumbing, interiors, and all other finishing activities so that the stations are fully ready for use.

The second package covers the remaining five stations: Palarivattom Junction, Alinchuvadu, Chembumukku, Vazhakkala, and Padamugal. Similar work will be carried out at these stations, and the contractor has been given 360 days to complete the project.

Kochi Metro's Pink Line Delayed

The Pink Line project has already been delayed by more than one and a half years. KMRL now plans to finish the civil construction work on the 10.58-km elevated corridor by June next year. Testing, system integration, and final commissioning are expected to be completed by August 2027.

Kochi Metro's Pink Line Tribute to Women

The Pink Line has been planned as a tribute to women. All stations are being designed with a focus on safety, comfort, accessibility, and visibility. Features will include bright lighting, open spaces, easy accessibility, mothers' lounges, nursing rooms, large protective canopies, and comfortable seating areas. The design will also use curved structures and pathways to create a more welcoming environment.

Metro Phase 2 will connect JLN Stadium with Infopark in Kakkanad. Once operational, it will offer a fast and convenient travel option for thousands of commuters, IT employees, and visitors travelling to offices, business centres, and government institutions in Kakkanad.
