According to weather updates, parts of Kerala, including Thiruvananthapuram, remained under cloudy skies with temperatures around 29°C and a high humidity level of nearly 82 per cent. Intermittent rain and thunderstorm activity have been forecast through the day and into the night, while authorities have warned residents in vulnerable areas to stay alert.

Red Alert In Three Districts; Educational Institutions Closed

Heavy rainfall has prompted authorities to declare holidays for educational institutions in selected districts as a precautionary measure.

District administrations announced closure of schools, colleges, madrasas, tuition centres and several educational institutions in:

  • Kozhikode
  • Kannur
  • Kasaragod

The decision comes following a red alert warning and concerns over waterlogging, heavy rainfall and possible weather-related incidents.

Authorities clarified that university examinations and scheduled public examinations are expected to continue unless separate notifications are issued.

Rainfall To Continue; More Districts Under Alert

Apart from red alert districts, weather warnings remain active across several parts of Kerala.

Orange and yellow alerts have been issued for multiple districts over the coming days, indicating the possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall.

Officials have warned that rainfall intensity may remain high in northern and central Kerala regions before conditions gradually improve.

Flash Flood Risk And Restrictions In Hilly Areas

Weather monitoring agencies have also flagged a flash flood risk in parts of Thiruvananthapuram.

Continuous rainfall has increased river and stream levels in several locations. Authorities have advised caution in low-lying areas and issued warnings regarding:

  • Waterlogging and flash floods
  • Landslides and rockfall risks in hilly regions
  • Rough sea conditions along the Kerala coast
  • Strong winds in exposed areas

Entry restrictions have reportedly been introduced in select hill destinations and eco-tourism zones as a preventive measure.

Travel Advisory For Residents And Tourists

People travelling across Kerala are being advised to plan carefully.

Authorities have recommended:

  • Avoid unnecessary trips to hilly areas
  • Do not enter rivers, waterfalls or fast-flowing streams
  • Follow district administration advisories
  • Fishermen should avoid venturing into the sea until conditions improve
  • Residents in flood-prone areas should remain prepared for evacuation if required

Emergency control rooms remain active across districts to coordinate assistance if conditions worsen.

With rain bands continuing to move across the state, Kerala is expected to remain under close weather monitoring over the next few days. Stay updated with official district and weather advisories before planning travel or outdoor activities.
