Kerala is expected to witness a relatively quieter phase of the southwest monsoon, but weather conditions continue to remain under watch as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for two districts and warned of isolated rainfall along with gusty winds in parts of the state.

After days of active monsoon conditions, rainfall intensity has reduced across several regions. However, weather officials have cautioned that localized showers and changing wind patterns could still affect travel and outdoor movement.
Yellow Alert for Pathanamthitta and Idukki
The IMD has placed Pathanamthitta and Idukki under yellow alert, indicating the possibility of isolated heavy rainfall during the day.
Although widespread rain activity has weakened, these districts remain vulnerable due to local weather developments and terrain conditions. Authorities continue to monitor rainfall trends and cloud movement across central and southern Kerala.
Residents in hilly and low-lying pockets have been advised to stay alert, especially during short-duration intense showers.
Strong Winds Expected Across Parts of Kerala
Along with rainfall, the weather department has warned of strong surface winds reaching up to around 40 kmph in some areas.
The wind activity may affect open areas, coastal stretches and elevated regions. People are advised to exercise caution while travelling, particularly during evening hours when isolated rain spells may develop.
Weather Conditions Across Kerala Today
Current weather observations indicate mostly cloudy conditions across many parts of Kerala, with temperatures remaining comparatively comfortable.
Several locations are expected to remain in the upper-20s to low-30s Celsius range, while humidity levels continue to stay high due to prevailing monsoon moisture.
Forecast models also suggest chances of brief afternoon and evening showers in isolated places, while some areas may experience cloudy skies for most of the day.
No Rain Alert Issued for Tomorrow
In a sign of easing monsoon activity, no district-wide rainfall alert has been issued for tomorrow.
Weather forecasts indicate that monsoon conditions may remain subdued in the coming days, although isolated rain and thunderstorms cannot be ruled out completely. This points to a temporary slowdown in widespread monsoon showers rather than a complete withdrawal of rain.
Travel Advisory for Visitors and Residents
Those planning travel across Kerala should keep these points in mind:
- Carry rain protection despite reduced rainfall activity
- Stay updated on local weather advisories before heading to hill regions
- Expect occasional gusty winds in exposed locations
- Monitor road conditions if travelling through rain-prone stretches
While Kerala is not expected to witness intense widespread rainfall immediately, weather conditions remain dynamic and localized showers may continue in selected districts.
