The remnants of Tropical Cyclone Wipha are expected to evolve into a low-pressure system over the northern Bay of Bengal within the next 24 hours, which is likely to strengthen westerly winds originating from the Arabian Sea. Additionally, a trough extending from the northeast Arabian Sea to a cyclonic circulation over the west-central and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal at mid-tropospheric levels is further intensifying the weather conditions.

As a result, heavy rainfall is forecast across key monsoon regions along India's western coast, impacting areas such as coastal Karnataka, parts of Kerala, south interior Karnataka, and coastal Andhra Pradesh.

IMD Issues Alerts for Kerala Amid Intensifying Weather Conditions

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for eight districts in Kerala - Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod - warning of isolated heavy rainfall over the next 24 hours.

Additionally, a statewide alert has been issued for heavy to very heavy rain on Friday, as the intensifying weather systems are expected to bring stronger winds and increased rainfall.

In summary, Kerala is bracing for intensified weather conditions due to developing systems over the Bay of Bengal. Authorities urge residents to remain vigilant, follow official updates, and take necessary safety measures as the situation unfolds.
