The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for seven districts in Kerala on Wednesday, July 29, warning of isolated heavy rainfall. The weather department has also released a five-day rainfall forecast, with rain alerts continuing in different parts of the state until August 1.

Kerala Rain Alert on Wednesday
For Wednesday, the yellow alert has been issued for Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod. People living in these districts have been advised to stay alert as heavy rain may occur in isolated places.
Kerala Weather Alert for Upcoming Days
The IMD has also announced alerts for the coming days. On Thursday, July 30, a yellow alert will be in place for Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod.
On Friday, July 31, the yellow alert will cover Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod.
On Saturday, August 1, the alert will be issued for Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Kannur and Kasaragod.
According to the IMD, a yellow alert indicates the possibility of isolated heavy rainfall in the affected districts. The department classifies heavy rainfall as 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm of rain within 24 hours. While widespread flooding is not expected, heavy showers in some areas could lead to waterlogging, traffic disruptions and other weather-related problems.
Advisory for Kerala Residents
Residents in districts under alert have been advised to check the latest weather updates and follow instructions issued by local authorities. People living in low-lying areas or places prone to flooding should remain cautious, especially during periods of intense rainfall. Travellers are also advised to check weather conditions before starting their journey.
The IMD will continue to monitor the weather situation and issue further updates if there are any changes in the rainfall forecast over the coming days.
