Kerala Rain Alert on Monday: IMD Predicts Rainfall in Several Districts of Kerala, Yellow Alert Issued

Kerala is expected to receive widespread rainfall over the next few days, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing a yellow alert for five districts on Monday. The warning has been issued for Pathanamthitta, Idukki, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad, where heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places.

Kerala Rain Alert on Monday

According to the IMD, most parts of Kerala will continue to experience light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds. Heavy showers are expected in some districts, and people living in low-lying and hilly areas have been advised to remain cautious due to the possibility of waterlogging, landslides and strong winds.

The weather department stated that the current rainfall is part of the active southwest monsoon over the state. Moisture-laden winds from the Arabian Sea are supporting the rain activity, which is likely to continue over the coming days. While rainfall is expected across Kerala, it may be heavier in the districts placed under the yellow alert.

Advisory for Kerala Residents

Authorities have advised residents to avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rain, especially in areas that are prone to flooding or landslides. People have also been asked to stay away from rivers, streams, and other water bodies as water levels may rise quickly after continuous rainfall. Those living in vulnerable areas should closely follow weather updates and instructions issued by local authorities.

Fishermen have also been urged to check the latest weather conditions before venturing into the sea, as rough weather and strong winds may affect coastal areas. The IMD will continue to monitor the monsoon situation and issue updated forecasts if weather conditions change. Residents are advised to stay alert and take necessary precautions until the rain activity weakens.
