Mumbai's Maha Mumbai Metro will extend services on Metro Lines 2A, 7, 9 and 2B until 12.30 am during Ganeshotsav 2026. The extended services will allow devotees and other passengers to travel late at night during the festival. According to the Maharashtra Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), the additional services will operate from September 14 to September 25, 2026.
Mumbai Metro Services Extension
Under the special Ganeshotsav schedule, the last Metro trains from Andheri West and Dahisar East on Line 2A, Gundavali and Kashigaon on Lines 7 and 9, and Maharashtra Nagar-Mandale and Chembur on Line 2B will depart at 12.30 am instead of the usual 11 pm. The Metro operator will also run 10 to 15 additional services on Lines 2A, 7, 9 and 2B.
Additional Services on Metro Lines
On weekdays, Line 2A will operate 299 services, which is 10 more than the regular schedule. Lines 7 and 9 will operate 290 services, an increase of 14 services. Line 2B will operate 180 services, 15 more than usual. On Saturdays, Line 2A will run 241 services, an increase of 10. Lines 7 and 9 will operate 237 services, 14 more than the regular schedule, while Line 2B will run 180 services, an increase of 15. On Sundays, Line 2A will operate 223 services, 10 more than usual. Lines 7 and 9 will run 219 services, an increase of 14, while Line 2B will operate 180 services, 15 more than the regular schedule.
Extended Services to Help Ganeshotsav Commuters
The extended operating hours and additional Metro services are aimed at helping passengers travelling to Ganesh mandals and other festival venues during the 12-day Ganeshotsav 2026 celebrations. Ganeshotsav will be celebrated from September 14 to September 25 this year. Devotees are expected to travel across Mumbai for darshan and other festivities.
Central Railway PRS Centres to Close After 2 pm on September 14
Meanwhile, Passenger Reservation System (PRS) centres across Central Railway will operate for half a day on Monday, September 14, due to Ganeshotsav 2026. According to Central Railway, the PRS centres will follow a Sunday working pattern on the festival day. The second shift of all PRS centres will remain closed from 2 pm to 10 pm. However, adequate counters will remain open for emergency services during the second shift to avoid inconvenience to passengers. Central Railway has urged passengers to plan their ticketing and reservation-related activities accordingly and cooperate with the revised working schedule during the festive period.
Passengers have also been advised to take note of the changed PRS centre timings to avoid inconvenience on Ganesh Chaturthi.
