The Jammu Division of Northern Railway has announced a special train service between Katra and Haridwar to handle the expected increase in passenger traffic during Somvati Amavasya. Railway officials said the special train has been arranged mainly for devotees travelling to the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine in Katra and other pilgrims visiting Haridwar during the religious occasion.

According to the railway authorities, the special train, numbered 04606, will leave Katra at 6:15 pm on June 14 and reach Haridwar at 6:30 am the next day. For the return journey, Train No. 04605 will depart from Haridwar at 5:20 pm on June 15 and arrive in Katra at 7:00 am on June 16.

The railway spokesperson stated that this will be a fully reserved special train and will make only one round trip. To accommodate passengers comfortably, the train will have 16 coaches, including Sleeper Class, General coaches, AC 3-Tier, and AC 2-Tier coaches.
During its journey, the train will stop at several important stations. These include Martyr Captain Tushar Mahajan Station, Jammu Tawi, Pathankot Cantt, Jalandhar Cantt, Ludhiana, Ambala Cantt, Saharanpur, and Roorkee. These halts will help passengers from different locations board and deboard the train conveniently.
How will this Special Train benefit Passengers?
Senior Divisional Commercial Manager of Jammu Division, Uchit Singhal, said that the special train has been introduced in view of the expected rush of pilgrims during Somvati Amavasya. He explained that the service is aimed at providing a comfortable travel option and reducing congestion during the busy period.
Railway officials have advised passengers to book their tickets in advance to avoid inconvenience. Travellers have also been requested to carry valid tickets while travelling.
