experience strong winds and thunderstorms in the coming days.

Karnataka Rain Alert from 6 to 9 May

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the weather change is caused by a trough formed about 1.5 km above the ground. This system stretches from Madhya Pradesh through Vidarbha, Marathwada, and Interior Karnataka up to the Gulf of Mannar. It is affecting weather conditions and is responsible for the expected rainfall across the region. From May 6 to May 9, both North and South Interior Karnataka may experience gusty winds with speeds of 30 to 40 km/h. Coastal districts, including Dakshina Kannada and Udupi, are also likely to see thunderstorms and lightning between May 5 and May 9.

List of Districts to Experience Rainfall

Heavy rainfall is expected in several southern districts over three days. On May 7, Chamarajanagar, Mysuru, and Kodagu may receive heavy rain. On May 8, heavy showers are likely in Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru, Kodagu, Hassan, Mysuru, and Chamarajanagar. On May 9, rain is expected to continue in Chikkamagaluru, Kodagu, Hassan, Mysuru, and Chamarajanagar. In Bengaluru, the next 48 hours are likely to bring partly cloudy skies with thunderstorms in the evening or night, with winds reaching 30 to 40 km/h. The maximum temperature will be around 34°C, and the minimum about 22°C. North Interior districts like Bidar, Kalaburagi, Vijayapura, Yadgir, and Raichur may receive light to moderate rain from May 5. Rainfall may increase in Belagavi, Dharwad, Gadag, and Haveri from May 6. Coastal areas are also expected to get moderate rain after May 7.

Daytime temperatures are expected to be mostly the same, but evenings may feel cooler due to rain. People are advised to stay careful during thunderstorms and avoid standing under trees during lightning.
