Karnataka Braces for Heatwave, IMD Forecasts Rain Across Multiple States

As temperatures soar across the country, people are feeling uncomfortable due to an intense heatwave. This scorching heat is not just limited to Eastern and Southern Peninsular India; it has now spread to North India as well.

IMD Forecasts Rain Across Multiple State

States like Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Punjab are experiencing higher than usual temperatures, making life difficult for residents. However, there's some relief in sight. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted light rain accompanied by thunderstorms in parts of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh today and tomorrow. Additionally, rain is forecasted for several regions, including northeastern states, West Bengal, Bihar, and Odisha.

For Northeast India, the IMD predicts the possibility of light rain with isolated thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds over the next seven days in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura.

Let's take a look at the rainfall expected in different states:

- Arunachal Pradesh is expected to experience heavy rain on Monday, followed by Assam and Meghalaya on Tuesday.
- Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura are also expected to witness rainfall until May 7.
- Specifically, heavy rainfall is anticipated in isolated areas of Assam and Meghalaya on May 6.
- On Monday, there is a possibility of light to moderate rain in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Muzaffarabad.
- Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand are expected to receive rain accompanied by thunder, lightning, and strong winds until May 8.
- From May 9 to May 11, the Meteorological Department predicts light to moderate rain in Haryana-Chandigarh, Punjab, and East Rajasthan.
- Additionally, from today until May 9, rain is anticipated in Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Jharkhand, and the eastern parts of Odisha.

Delhi recently experienced its hottest day of the year, with the mercury soaring to 41.1 degrees Celsius. This temperature was two degrees above the normal average for this time of year and one degree higher than the preceding day. Meanwhile, the IMD warns of the persistence of heatwave conditions in isolated areas of interior Karnataka from May 5 to May 7.

In Karnataka, where the heatwave persists, people are advised to take necessary precautions to stay safe and hydrated. As the IMD forecasts rain and thunderstorms in various parts of the country, including Karnataka, residents can look forward to some relief from the sweltering heat in the coming days.
