The "Our Living Islands policy", which includes the Vacant Property Refurbishment Grant, offers people the chance to obtain a sizeable sum of up to €84,000 in funding which means almost $92,000. The purpose of this incentive is to entice residents to live on remote islands and support the development of offshore communities.
Individuals can significantly increase these distant islands' population and vitality by taking part in this programme. The higher renovation grants will go into effect on July 1 and will be applied retrospectively to all current applications.
The National Islands Policy and Action Plan of the Irish government, which consists of a comprehensive 80-point action plan and an ambitious 10-year policy, includes this effort as one of its many components.
Eligibility criteria:
Residents must buy and possess a home on one of the islands that were constructed before 1993 and were unoccupied for at least two years. The given money, which can be used for a variety of building renovations including the installation of insulation, structural upgrades, and redecoration, must be used in accordance with certain guidelines.
