Indore to Get 600 Digital Bus Stops with Modern Facilities

Indore is taking a big step towards improving its public transport system with the introduction of 600 modern digital bus stops. The Atal Indore City Transport Services Ltd (AICTSL) has announced this major project, which will begin with the construction of the first 200 bus stops. These new stops will replace old ones and bring better facilities for passengers. The project aims to make travel more comfortable, safe, and efficient for commuters in the city.

Indore to Get 600 Digital Bus Stops

Modern Features for a Better Journey

The new digital bus stops will include many modern features designed to improve the passenger experience. Commuters will have access to CCTV surveillance for safety, mobile charging points to keep devices powered, comfortable seating areas, and emergency contact numbers. Additionally, real-time bus arrival updates will help passengers plan their journeys better and reduce waiting time.

These improvements will make Indore's public transport system smoother by ensuring that buses stop only at designated locations. This will help control traffic congestion and make bus travel more organized and efficient.

Project Phases and Timeline

The first phase of the project will see the construction of 200 digital bus stops. AICTSL public relations officer (PRO) Mala Singh Thakur has confirmed that the work will be completed within a month. Once this phase is completed, more digital bus stops will be added in later phases until all 600 are fully operational.

Some bus stops with enough space will also feature small libraries and extra seating areas, making the waiting experience more enjoyable for passengers.

Cost and Financial Model

Each digital bus stop will cost around ₹8 lakh to build. However, the government or the commuters will not have to bear this expense. Instead, the project will follow a public-private partnership (PPP) model. Under this arrangement, the construction agency will be allowed to use the bus stops for advertising, helping them recover their investment. This approach ensures that modern facilities can be provided without increasing the financial burden on the city.

The new digital bus stops will bring Indore's public transport system closer to the level of metro stations in major cities. With their advanced features and focus on commuter comfort, these stops will create a more organized and user-friendly experience for travelers.

By implementing this project, Indore is setting an example for other cities on how to upgrade urban transport infrastructure. The digital bus stops will not only improve safety and convenience but also encourage more people to use public transport.

The introduction of 600 digital bus stops marks a major advancement in Indore's transportation system. With improved safety, better facilities, and modern technology, this initiative will transform the daily travel experience of commuters. As the project moves forward, excitement is building among passengers who look forward to a more comfortable and efficient way to travel in the city.
