Indigo Airlines to Start Flights from Puducherry to Hyderabad and Bengaluru From December

Good News for Puducherry: Indigo Airlines is set to start regular flight services from Puducherry Airport on December 20. This new service will provide direct flights to Hyderabad and Bengaluru, using the smaller ATR-72 aircraft. The move is a big step towards making travel more convenient, affordable, and smooth for passengers in the Union Territory. Indigo's arrival is expected to help the tourism sector in Puducherry by making the area easier to reach and explore.

Flights from Puducherry to Hyderabad

Earlier this year, SpiceJet, another airline, was offering flights from Puducherry to Hyderabad and Bengaluru. However, SpiceJet paused its services in March, leaving a gap in air connectivity. The government has since requested Indigo to consider extending its services to other places in the South, further improving Puducherry's connectivity and attracting more visitors to the region.

K. Rajasehar Reddy, the Director of Puducherry Airport, explained that Indigo's flights will bring multiple benefits to passengers, including affordable fares, greater convenience, and a comfortable travel experience. By connecting Puducherry directly to major cities, this service will also link travelers to many destinations across India and even internationally. Indigo's expansion into Puducherry could bring many opportunities, allowing people to connect with various cities and countries around the world.

The government has also asked Indigo to look into starting flights to additional cities in the southern region. This request is part of a larger plan to promote Puducherry as a key travel destination and support its tourism industry. The Airports Authority of India (AAI) is committed to helping Puducherry improve its connectivity, unlocking more possibilities for economic and tourism growth.

SpiceJet was previously the only airline providing daily flights from Puducherry to Hyderabad and Bengaluru. With the temporary suspension of its services, the area experienced a gap in air connectivity. Indigo's new flights are now expected to fill this gap, strengthening Puducherry's links to other regions and supporting the growth of tourism and business.

Indigo Airlines' decision to launch operations from Puducherry is an important development. These new flights will improve the region's air connectivity, making Puducherry more accessible for travelers and contributing to local economic and tourism development. With plans to expand routes to Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and potentially other cities, Puducherry stands ready to welcome more visitors and open up new opportunities for progress and prosperity.
