Operation Ajay: Repatriation, Not Evacuation:

Operation Ajay is not a typical evacuation operation. Instead, it is a mission to repatriate Indian citizens currently residing in Israel. Special chartered flights will be employed for this purpose, and in case of unforeseen requirements, Indian Navy ships may also be deployed.

Facilitating the Return of Citizens:

The operation is designed to assist Indians in Israel who wish to return to their home country. This group includes approximately 18,000 individuals, comprising students, professionals, and traders. India's commitment to the safety and well-being of its citizens abroad was reiterated by Dr. S. Jaishankar, India's External Affairs Minister. The first flight under Operation Ajay is scheduled for Thursday, as the Indian Embassy in Tel Aviv has already emailed the first batch of registered Indians in Israel. Messages will follow for subsequent flights.

24-Hour Control Room:

A 24-hour control room has been established in New Delhi to closely monitor the situation in Israel and Palestine. The control room can be reached via the following phone numbers: 1800118797 (toll-free), +91-11 23012113, +91-11-23014104, +91-11-23017905, and +919968291988. For email inquiries, reach out to [email protected]. Additionally, the Indian Embassy in Israel has set up a 24-hour emergency helpline, accessible through the numbers +972-35226748 and +972-543278392, and the email [email protected].

First Batch's Homecoming:

The first batch of Indian citizens is expected to be repatriated from Israel in a special flight on Thursday. They were informed about Operation Ajay through emails sent by the Indian Embassy in Tel Aviv. As the conflict between Israel and Hamas persists, the toll continues to rise, with Hamas' surprise attack and the subsequent retaliation claiming around 4,000 lives.

Air India's Temporary Suspension:

Following the attacks and escalating violence, Air India temporarily suspended its flights to and from Tel Aviv until October 14th, emphasizing the gravity of the situation.

The initiation of Operation Ajay underscores India's dedication to ensuring the safety and welfare of its citizens abroad during times of crisis. As the mission to bring back Indians from Israel unfolds, it serves as a testament to the nation's unwavering commitment to its people, regardless of geographical boundaries. The first batch's return marks a significant step towards reuniting families and ensuring the well-being of Indian citizens caught up in the turmoil in Israel.
