The cornerstone of the government's commitment lies in the legal frameworks established over the years. Acts such as 'the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005', 'the Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961', and 'the Sexual Harassment of Women (Prevention, Prohibition, and Redressal) Act, 2013' emphasize the importance of a gender-just society. Reservations for women in Panchayati Raj Institutions, central/state police forces, and provisions for their induction in institutions like the National Defence Academy reflect a proactive stance towards women's representation.
Women-Led Development Across Sectors:
India's shift towards women-led development is evident in various sectors. The aviation industry, for instance, has seen a commendable rise in the number of women pilots, surpassing the global average. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation's advisory to participate in the International Air Transport Association's diversity and inclusion project underscores the commitment to increasing the number of women in senior positions.
Education and STEM Opportunities:
Addressing the entire life cycle continuum, the government has focused on educational, social, economic, and political empowerment. The Gross Enrolment Ratio for girls in primary and secondary education is at par with boys.
