Flights at Beirut's international airport have faced cancellations and delays due to concerns over a potential Israeli response. Airlines are taking precautions as the situation remains volatile.
Emergency Contacts Shared
The embassy has shared emergency contact details and an email ID for Indian nationals to use. It is crucial for Indians in Lebanon to remain in touch with the Embassy of India in Beirut during this period.
On Monday, an Israeli drone strike in southern Lebanon injured three people, including an infant. The Israeli military reported that its air defences had downed a drone that crossed from Lebanon into Western Galilee.
US Secretary of State's Statement
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken expressed his desire to avoid further escalation on Israel's northern border. He reiterated US support for Israel's right to defend its citizens during a news conference in Tokyo.
"I emphasize (Israel's) right to defend its citizens and our determination to make sure that they're able to do that," Blinken stated. "But we also don't want to see the conflict escalate. We don't want to see it spread."
Both Israel and Hezbollah have been cautious about avoiding a full-scale war since their exchanges began in October, triggered by the Gaza conflict.
