India is witnessing a notable rise in Covid-19 infections, with the latest updates indicating a steady increase across several northern states. As of today, the nation has reported 1,158 active coronavirus cases, marking an uptick of 31 cases in the last 24 hours, as per the official site mygov.in/covid-19. This resurgence is particularly evident in the national capital, Delhi, which has registered 63 new cases as of March 7, the highest daily count since May 2023. This resurgence serves as a reminder that the coronavirus pandemic persists.

Rising Trend in Delhi
Delhi's recent surge in Covid-19 cases is cause for concern, with 459 cases reported in the fortnight ending on March 7. This figure significantly exceeds the 191 cases noted in the previous two weeks and the 73 cases identified in the 15 days preceding that period. The capital's rising case count underscores the persistent threat of the virus.
Infections Climb in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar
Uttar Pradesh, India's most populous state, has also experienced a rise in Covid-19 cases. Comparing data, there has been a substantial increase from just 12 cases recorded between January 20 and February 4 to 164 cases between February 19 and March 5. Similarly, Bihar has seen its daily Covid-19 figures jump into triple digits, with 103 cases reported until March 7.
Surge in Rajasthan
Rajasthan is another state facing a sharp increase in coronavirus infections. The state has reported 226 cases in the past 15 days, a significant rise from the 96 and 27 cases recorded in the two preceding fortnights. Adding to the state's concerns, Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma has tested positive for the virus.
These developments across key states in North India highlight the ongoing challenge posed by Covid-19. Despite improvements in several socio-economic indicators to pre-pandemic levels, the recent data reflect a concerning trend that necessitates continued vigilance and adherence to health guidelines. The fight against the pandemic, evidently, is far from over.
