IMD Warns of Mixed Weather: Snow in North, Heat in South from March 9-13

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted a mix of rain, snow, and rising temperatures across various parts of India from March 9 to March 13. This forecast is due to a western disturbance that will bring snowfall in higher altitudes and rain in lower regions. As the weather patterns shift, residents in affected areas are advised to stay prepared for changing conditions.

IMD Warns of Mixed Weather

Snowfall and Rain in Himachal Pradesh

In Himachal Pradesh, the IMD has forecasted light snowfall in high mountain regions on March 9. From March 10 to March 13, both mid-mountain and high-mountain regions are expected to experience a mix of rain and snow. Key districts likely to be affected include:

- Lahaul-Spiti
- Kinnaur
- Chamba
- Kullu

The upper areas of these districts are expected to see the most snowfall during this period. Travelers heading to these regions should prepare for cold weather and possible disruptions.

Wider Impact in Northern India

The western disturbance will also affect other northern states. The IMD predicts:

- Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, and Muzaffarabad will experience light to moderate rain and snowfall during this period.

- Uttarakhand will see rainfall from March 10 to March 13.

- Punjab will have isolated light to moderate rain on March 12 and 13.

- Arunachal Pradesh is expected to receive light to moderate rain on March 8.

These weather conditions signal a significant change in the climate across northern India, bringing cooler temperatures and wet conditions to many areas.

Rising Temperatures and Heatwave Warnings

While some regions will experience rain and snow, the IMD has also warned of rising temperatures and heatwave conditions in other parts of the country.

- Konkan, Goa, and parts of Maharashtra are expected to experience hot and humid weather on March 9.

- Coastal Karnataka, Gujarat, Kerala-Mahe, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Yanam will face similar warm conditions from March 9 to March 11.

This increase in temperature highlights the shift towards summer conditions in these regions. Residents are advised to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged outdoor exposure, and take necessary precautions against the heat.

Delhi's Weather Outlook

In Delhi, residents experienced a clear and brisk morning on March 8. Strong surface winds are expected to keep the weather dry and pleasant throughout the day. The IMD reported a morning temperature of 12 degrees Celsius, with the mercury rising to 31 degrees Celsius by the afternoon.

Delhi is expected to remain dry and sunny with no rainfall predicted. The coming days will see misty mornings followed by clear and warm afternoons, with temperatures gradually reaching the low-to-mid 30s. As the city transitions toward early summer conditions, residents are encouraged to stay cool and take care when spending time outdoors.

The upcoming days will bring diverse weather patterns across India, from snow and rain in the north to rising temperatures and heatwaves in southern and coastal regions. Whether you're bundling up for snowfall or preparing for the heat, staying informed about these changes will help you plan your days better.
