Southern Regions Battling Heavy Rains:

IMD Forecast For South and North

In a separate weather development, heavy rains have wreaked havoc in Tamil Nadu, particularly in districts like Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, and Tenkasi. A cyclonic storm has formed over the Comorin area and its vicinity, extending up to mid-tropospheric levels, as reported by the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC).

The incessant rainfall has disrupted normal life, leading to knee-to-waist-deep water levels in many areas. The severity of the situation prompted authorities to declare a holiday for all schools and colleges. Low-lying areas have witnessed water entering houses, and a couple of hospitals have reported flooding in their premises.

The deluge has also impacted transportation, with water-logged roads leaving vehicles stranded. Railway operations have been disrupted as well, with rail tracks either fully or partially submerged in floodwater.

A Glimpse of the Human Impact:

As the rains persist, everyday life has been severely affected in these regions, with residents facing challenges in commuting, and essential services being hampered. The authorities are actively working to mitigate the impact, and residents are urged to exercise caution and stay updated on the weather forecasts.

In the face of contrasting weather patterns across the country, ranging from plummeting temperatures in the north to the deluge in the south, citizens are advised to stay informed and take necessary precautions. The IMD continues to monitor and update the weather situation, providing crucial information to help the public navigate these diverse weather challenges.
