The Hyderabad Metro is set to extend its reach to the proposed Future City, aiming to enhance urban connectivity. This decision was made during a meeting led by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, who directed officials to draft plans for this expansion. The project is expected to alleviate traffic congestion in key areas and stimulate economic activities.

Metro Expansion to Support Future City
The new metro line will be 40 kilometers long. It will run from the airport to the Young India Skills Development University, which is located inside the Future City. The Telangana government earlier announced that Future City will be built on a huge 30,000-acre area. The metro line will make it easier for people to travel in and out of this new city area, making it a more connected part of Hyderabad.
Project Report and Planning
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has ordered the preparation of a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the metro extension. This report will include the full cost of the project and other key details. Once ready, it will be sent to the central government for approval. The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) will work together with the Future City Development Authority (FSDA) to make this project successful.
Focus on Phase 2 Metro Routes
The Chief Minister also asked for updates on the second phase of the Hyderabad Metro project. Though some routes are still waiting for central government approval, talks have started in Delhi to move the process forward. The second phase will include important routes like:
- - Nagole to Shamshabad Airport (36.8 km)
- - Raidurgam to Kokapet Neopolis (11.6 km)
- - MGBS to Chandrayangutta (7.5 km)
- - Miyapur to Patancheru (13.4 km)
- - LB Nagar to Hayathnagar (7.1 km)
These new routes will cover more areas and give citizens more transport choices.
A Move Towards Better Growth
This metro expansion is not only about making travel easier. It will also help the city grow by supporting businesses and reducing traffic jams. By connecting key locations like the airport and Future City, the Hyderabad Metro hopes to offer a fast and safe way to travel for all. It shows how the city is planning for the future by combining better transport with smart urban development.
This decision marks an important step in Hyderabad's journey to becoming a more connected and modern city.
