Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and Quthbullapur MLA KP Vivekananda has questioned the delay in implementing the Hyderabad Metro Phase II project. He said the Telangana government should clearly explain why the project has not moved forward.

Hyderabad Metro Phase II Delay & Questions Arose
Speaking to reporters at Telangana Bhavan on Tuesday, Vivekananda said Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has only been writing letters to the Central government regarding the takeover of Hyderabad Metro Phase I from L&T. He claimed that there has been no clear progress on the issue.
The MLA alleged that the delay in taking over Metro Phase I has created a financial burden of around Rs 2.5 crore every day for the state government. According to him, the continued delay has also created uncertainty over the future of the Hyderabad Metro project.
Vivekananda stated that after the Chief Minister met the Union Minister to discuss the Metro project, the government did not inform the public of the outcomes of the meeting. He questioned what decisions were taken during the discussions and why the details have not been shared with citizens.
The BRS leader also compared Hyderabad's Metro expansion with other cities. He pointed out that Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently laid the foundation stone for Jaipur Metro Phase II. He said Jaipur has a population of around 40 lakh, while Hyderabad has a population of nearly 1.3 crore.
He questioned why Hyderabad has not yet received approval or progress on its Metro Phase II project despite being a much larger city with greater public transport needs. According to Vivekananda, the delay in expanding the Metro network is affecting commuters and raising concerns about the future development of urban transport in the city.
He urged the state government to explain the reasons behind the delay and provide clarity on the status of Metro Phase II. He also called for greater transparency regarding discussions with the Central government and asked both governments to work together to ensure the project moves forward without further delays.
