Hyderabad is getting ready to launch a new mobile app called TUTEM (Technologies for Urban Transit to Enhance Mobility and Safe Accessibility). This app is specially made to improve public transport and make it safer, especially for women. It is being developed with the help of BITS Pilani-Hyderabad, Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL), Hyderabad Police, IIT Kharagpur, and IIT Bombay. The Asian Development Bank is also supporting this important project by giving funds.

The Managing Director of HMRL, NVS Reddy, introduced the app. He said that TUTEM will help make city travel more secure and easier for everyone. He also said that this app matches the vision of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, who wants to improve public safety using technology. This app is a major step toward making Hyderabad's public transport more modern and safe.
Features of the TUTEM App
TUTEM has two main parts - a Driver App and a User App. These are designed to help all kinds of travelers. The app connects many travel options such as walking, auto-rickshaws, cars, and buses. This will help people reach Metro stations easily from different places.
One very useful feature of the app is its emergency alert system. If a user feels unsafe, they can quickly send an alert to the police and their family members. This shows the app's strong focus on safety, especially for women who travel alone.
HMRL's Continued Efforts in Urban Transit
During the launch, NVS Reddy also talked about how HMRL has been improving travel in Hyderabad. For the past seven years, HMRL has been successfully moving about 5 lakh commuters every day. The launch of TUTEM will support their goal of creating a better, more connected, and safer travel system in the city.
