With the Holi festival fast approaching, Indian Railways has announced several special trains to make travel easier and less stressful for passengers who are heading home or to festive destinations. As several people travel by train around this time, demand goes up, and regular trains often get booked. To help

manage this rush and ensure more people get confirmed tickets, the railways have arranged nine pairs of Holi special trains running on important routes across the country between late February and March 2026.
Holi Special Services
These special services cover long-distance journeys linking big cities and regional hubs. For example, trains operating between Puri and Patna, Udhna and Hasanpur Road, Charlapalli and Raxaul, Gandhidham and Bhagalpur, and several connections between Anand Vihar/Sealdah/Asansol and Gorakhpur, among others. Each pair of trains runs on particular dates and days, with scheduled departure and arrival times to help passengers plan their trips. Specific trains operate from late February to late March, depending on the route, with most services running multiple times during this period.
How Will these Holi Trains Benefit Commuters?
The East Central Railway's public relations officer said the list of special trains was put together after consulting several railway divisions to cover high-demand routes effectively. This planning aims to reduce last-minute booking stress and help travelers reach their destinations comfortably.
Passengers are advised to plan, check seat availability before booking, and make travel arrangements early because the Holi season is one of the busiest times for train travel in India. These extra trains are meant to help spread out the load and make journeys smoother during one of the year's peak travel periods.
