As Holi approaches, the Mumbai Police have introduced strict guidelines to ensure that the festival is celebrated safely and peacefully. These rules will be in effect from March 12 to March 18 and aim to prevent activities that may disturb public order. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations) Akbar Pathan has stated that all citizens must follow these guidelines to avoid any legal action.

Rules for a Peaceful Celebration
The Mumbai Police have clearly listed actions that are not allowed during Holi celebrations. People are not allowed to spray colors or water on others without their consent. Singing or shouting obscene songs in public places is also strictly prohibited.
Other banned activities include making offensive gestures, displaying indecent photographs, or performing acts that could be considered inappropriate. The use of water balloons, whether filled with colored water or plain water, is completely banned in public spaces. These rules have been put in place to ensure that everyone can celebrate Holi without facing any discomfort or harassment.
Increased Police Presence in Public Areas
To enforce these rules, special teams of police officers will patrol public places, roads, and party venues. Security personnel will also be stationed at railway stations, bus stops, and popular Holi celebration spots. These measures are intended to prevent any misbehavior and maintain public safety throughout the festival.
Strict Actions Against Rule Breakers
The police have warned that those who break the rules will face strict punishment. Legal action will be taken against individuals who shout offensive slogans, use obscene language, or sing inappropriate songs in public places. The authorities are taking a serious approach to maintaining peace and order during the festival.
Additionally, to prevent dangerous behavior, the police will conduct drink-and-drive tests at various checkpoints across the city. Anyone caught violating traffic rules could face heavy fines, suspension of their driving license, or even arrest. The Mumbai Police have made it clear that reckless actions will not be tolerated.
The Mumbai Police's advisory for Holi 2025 reminds everyone to celebrate responsibly and follow the rules. By respecting these guidelines, people can enjoy the festival without causing inconvenience to others. The aim is to allow everyone to take part in the colorful celebrations while ensuring safety and order in the city.
