Amidst the vibrant festivities of Holi, Bengaluru's Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) has issued a crucial advisory cautioning against the use of Cauvery water and borewell water for rain dances and pool parties. This decision comes at a time when the city grapples with an acute water crisis, emphasizing the importance of collective cooperation to manage the escalating challenges, as stated by BWSSB chairman Dr. V Ram Prasat Manohar.

The BWSSB underscores that while cultural celebrations of Holi, including performances and festivities at homes and residences, are permissible, organizing rain dances and pool parties for commercial purposes is not advisable given the prevailing water scarcity situation.
The advisory also addresses concerns regarding the use of tap water by hotels and resorts, reassuring citizens that treated water will be employed instead.
Contrasting Picture Amidst Severe Water Crisis
Despite Bengaluru facing one of its worst water scarcities in years, several hotels and resorts have advertised Holi pool parties and rain dances, painting a contrasting picture. These events highlight vibrant Holi celebrations with unlimited pool access and colorful rain dances, sparking concerns amid the water crisis.

They encourage people to opt for a dry Holi celebration, emphasizing water conservation, environmental protection, and inclusivity. Traditional festivities like singing, dancing, and herbal colors are promoted to ensure a healthier celebration.
