The Hinjawadi-Shivajinagar Metro project in Pune has reached an important stage in its journey toward starting passenger services. A major safety and technical inspection has been completed, marking a key milestone for the project.

Inspection Conducted
The inspection was conducted by the Research Designs and Standards Organisation (RDSO), which works under Indian Railways. RDSO is responsible for checking and approving safety standards for railway and metro systems across the country. This inspection is mandatory and must be completed before any metro line can begin operations. With this process now finished, the Hinjawadi-Shivajinagar Metro corridor has entered the final phase before opening to the public.
Construction of Metro
Work on the metro line is progressing quickly. Construction of station buildings, platforms, entry and exit gates, and other facilities needed for passengers is almost complete. Officials have said that different agencies involved in the project are working together closely to make sure everything is ready for smooth operations.
Pune Metro Line 3
According to the current plan, most stations on Pune Metro Line 3 are expected to open for passengers by March 31. Along with station work, the delivery of metro trains is also moving forward. So far, 14 metro rakes have already arrived, and as per the approved plan, a total of 22 rakes will be available in the coming months.
Beginning of Trial Runs
With these developments, authorities will now begin trial runs and system testing in phases. These tests will help ensure that all systems are functioning safely and efficiently before regular services begin. At the same time, remaining civil work, system installations, and interior finishing inside stations are continuing at full speed.
Officials are confident that once these final steps are completed, the Hinjawadi-Shivajinagar Metro line will soon be ready to serve commuters and improve connectivity in Pune.
