The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted exceptionally heavy rainfall exceeding 40 cm over the Gujarat region today. Isolated extremely heavy rainfall is also expected over Gujarat State, Konkan & Goa, and Madhya Maharashtra during the next two days. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is predicted thereafter.
Impact on Lives and Property
Himachal Pradesh has already suffered significant losses amounting to approximately ₹389 crore during this monsoon season. Since June 27, rain-related incidents have resulted in the deaths of 49 people in the state.
The weather office has issued a 'yellow' alert for heavy rain at isolated places in Himachal Pradesh for the next four days until July 28. The Met Department has cautioned residents about possible damage due to strong winds and waterlogging in low-lying areas.
Widespread Rainfall Across India
Heavy rainfall has caused severe disruptions across various parts of India including Gujarat, Assam, and Kerala. The rains have led to loss of lives, extensive property damage, landslides, and floods.
"Very heavy rainfall likely to continue over Central India during next two days and heavy rainfall during subsequent three days," stated IMD.
The ongoing monsoon season continues to challenge infrastructure and safety across affected regions. Residents are advised to stay informed about weather updates and take necessary precautions.
