Bengaluru Metro Faced Technical Problems 15 Times between Sept 2025 to July 2026

Bengaluru Development Minister Krishna Byre Gowda in the Karnataka Legislative Council shared that Bengaluru's Namma Metro services faced technical problems 15 times between September 2025 and July 2026, which caused disruptions for passengers on different routes. The problems affected the Purple, Green and Yellow lines and were linked to signalling faults, power supply issues and train problems.

Bengaluru Metro Lines Caused Disruptions

The Purple Line recorded five technical incidents during this period, including signalling problems, traction power failures, a door-closing system issue and damage to a third-rail support insulator. One of the incidents in March affected train operations for around 25 minutes.

The Yellow Line, which runs between RV Road and Bommasandra, reported three disruptions. These included signalling problems that affected train reversal arrangements and a fault in a train's air-conditioning system. The incidents resulted in temporary changes to train operations.

The Green Line recorded the highest number of incidents, with seven technical problems. These included communication failures, door-closing issues, third-rail power supply problems and signalling faults. Some incidents affected the normal movement of trains and led to delays for passengers.

BMRCL to Coordinate with BMTC for Additional Bus Services

The repeated disruptions have raised concerns about the reliability of Bengaluru's expanding Metro network. To deal with major service interruptions, Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) said it would coordinate with the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) to arrange additional or alternative bus services when required. Short-loop Metro services may also be operated on either side of an affected section to help passengers reach nearby stations.

BMRCL has also said that major technical failures are examined through detailed root-cause analysis. Faulty components are replaced, while preventive maintenance and inspections are being strengthened. The corporation is also monitoring signalling, train control and traction systems more closely to reduce the chances of similar problems occurring again.
