Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced that helicopter services to Kedarnath will resume on Wednesday, offering a 25% discount on fares. This decision follows the temporary halt of the Kedarnath Yatra due to heavy rainfall and a cloudburst that caused significant damage in the Kedar Valley.

The Kedarnath Yatra was stopped because of heavy rain and a cloudburst, which caused major damage to the trek route. Landslides breached the route at 29 places, disrupting water and power supply lines and cutting off telecommunication. The rain-ravaged trek route has been a major concern, and the safety of pilgrims is a top priority.
Efforts to Repair Damaged Infrastructure
Efforts by disaster management departments, district administration, and rescue teams have been ongoing. Many people were rescued thanks to the collective effort of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), the priest community, and public representatives. The chief minister expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his support and for sending the Indian Air Force's Chinook and MI17 helicopters to aid in the rescue operations.
Focus on Resuming the Yatra
Chief Minister Dhami conducted an aerial inspection of the damaged trek route and reviewed the relief and rescue operations. He emphasized that the focus now is on repairing the damaged infrastructure to restart the pilgrimage by road as soon as possible. The chief minister instructed officials to seek help and suggestions from locals to speed up the repair process.
Helicopter Service with Discount
While the pedestrian route is being repaired, pilgrims can now undertake the Kedarnath Yatra exclusively via helicopter. The helicopter service offers a convenient option with a 25% concession on fare for pilgrims. This initiative aims to help pilgrims continue their journey to the Himalayan shrine despite the challenging conditions.
If you plan to visit Kedarnath, the resumed helicopter service provides a safe and convenient option. With the announced 25% fare discount, this service makes the journey more affordable for pilgrims. The collective efforts of various departments and the support from the central government highlight the commitment to ensuring the safety and accessibility of the Kedarnath Yatra for everyone.
