Haryana's Pachgaon Metro Project: 28 Stations Planned to Enhance Connectivity and Ease Traffic

According to the officials, the detailed project report (DPR) for the proposed 35.2 km metro line from Sector 56 to Pachgaon will be sent to the Haryana government for approval within a week. The Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation (HMRTC) is reviewing the DPR for the Rs 8,500-crore project, which

will have 28 stations along an elevated corridor. An HMRTC official stated that the DPR has been submitted by RITES, and they are examining it. Once the review is complete, it will be forwarded to the state government for approval.

Pachgaon Metro Project Fundings

Over the past year, the project's funding model has seen changes. Initially, RITES suggested an equity-sharing model, with the state and Centre contributing 20% each and the remaining 60% through soft loans. However, in November 2024, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini announced that the state would fully fund the project. The Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC) committed Rs 1,500 crore as seed money. A revised plan approved in January included a 10% central grant, with the rest funded by the state through an 80:20 debt-equity model.

Pachgaon Metro Routes

The metro line is planned to serve both residential areas and industrial hubs, linking important zones like Golf Course Extension Road, Southern and Central Peripheral Roads, Dwarka Expressway, the upcoming Global City, Manesar, and Pachgaon. Sector 56 will be an interchange with Rapid Metro, while Kherki Daula and Pachgaon stations will connect the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS), improving Gurgaon's connectivity with Delhi.

For residents of Gurgaon's newer sectors, this project promises much-needed public transport, as it will ease traffic and reduce dependence on private cars. Meanwhile, work on the Millennium City Centre-Cyber City metro line is also progressing, with construction planned to begin in October.
