The proposed Global City in Gurugram's Sector 36A will get its own dedicated metro station as part of a new 35-km metro corridor planned between Sector 56 on Golf Course Extension Road and Pachgaon on the Delhi-Jaipur Highway. The new metro line is expected to improve connectivity across the city and support its fast-growing residential, commercial and industrial areas.
Gurugram Metro Project
The Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation (HMRTC) has completed the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the project, estimated at Rs 10,428 crore, and has sent it to the Haryana Chief Minister for approval. The DPR was prepared by RITES, which was appointed as the project consultant.
The proposed metro corridor will have 28 stations. One of its biggest highlights is a dedicated station inside the nearly 1,000-acre Global City project being developed by the Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC). To support the metro project, HSIIDC will contribute Rs 1,500 crore.
Global City Planning
The Global City is planned as a modern mixed-use township with residential, commercial, and industrial areas. The metro station will provide easy access to public transport for residents, office workers, and businesses while reducing dependence on private vehicles.
Gurugram Metro Extension
The metro alignment was later extended to connect with the existing Rapid Metro at Sector 56, allowing passengers to travel more easily across Gurugram. The corridor will also connect with the proposed Namo Bharat routes between Gurugram and Greater Noida near Sector 61, and the Delhi-Bawal Namo Bharat corridor at Pachgaon, creating a strong multimodal transport network.
The proposal gained momentum after a meeting at the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs in October 2024, where it was decided that the Haryana government would build the project. According to the funding plan, the Central Government will provide 10% of the project cost, while the Haryana Government will contribute 20% equity. The remaining 80% will be raised through institutional loans.
The metro will pass through several important locations, including Sector 56, Golf Course Road, Sectors 61, 62, 66, Vatika Chowk, Southern Peripheral Road, Kherki Daula, Sector 36A, Global City, Manesar, and finally Pachgaon, improving connectivity across Gurugram.
