Gandhi Jayanti & Pooja Special Trains: Southern Railway to Operate Special Services between Chennai & Kollam

Southern Railway will operate five weekly Express Special trains between Chennai and Kollam in October to manage the expected increase in passenger demand during Gandhi Jayanti and the Pooja festival season.

The Chennai Egmore-Kollam Weekly Express Special, Train No. 06117, will leave Chennai Egmore at 11:40 pm on October 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29. It will reach Kollam at 4:20 pm the following day. The return service, Train No. 06118, will depart Kollam at 6:45 pm on October 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30 and reach Chennai Egmore at 12:30 pm the next day.

Another service, Train No. 06121, will depart Chennai Egmore at 11:40 pm on October 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31. It will arrive at Kollam at 4:20 pm the following day. Its return service, Train No. 06122, will leave Kollam at 6:45 pm on October 4, 11, 18, 25 and November 1. It will reach Dr MGR Chennai Central at 11:35 am the next day.
Both trains will have stops at Perambur, Tiruvallur, Arakkonam, Katpadi, Jolarpettai, Salem, Erode, Tirupur, Podanur, Palakkad, Thrissur, Aluva, Ernakulam Town, Kottayam, Changanasseri, Thiruvalla, Chengannur, Mavelikara and Kayamkulam, apart from their originating and terminating stations.

The special trains are being introduced to provide additional travel options during the festive period and help accommodate the extra passenger rush between Chennai and Kollam.

Reservations for these special trains have started from 8 am on September 23.
