Leading the list is Disfrutar in Barcelona, followed by Asador Etxebarri in Atxondo, and Table by Bruno Verjus in Paris. However, there is a delightful surprise for Indians. The restaurant ranking 9th globally and No.1 in Asia has strong Indian roots.

According to the list, Gaggan in Bangkok, helmed by Indian chef Gaggan Anand, is Asia's top restaurant. Garnering the highest number of positive reviews and votes over the past year, Gaggan has secured its position as No.1 in both Bangkok and Asia, with no other Asian restaurant ranking higher in the top 50.
Emotions on the Menu
Chef Gaggan Anand aims to revolutionize the fine dining experience, offering what he describes as "a culinary adventure of the senses and a roller coaster ride of emotions." His menu features a unique blend of progressive Indian cuisine with influences from French, Thai, and Japanese culinary traditions. Gaggan was voted No.3 in Asia's 50 Best Restaurants 2024 and earned the title of The Best Restaurant in Asia 2024 at The World's 50 Best Restaurants.

Journey of Gaggan Restaurant
Gaggan Anand opened his restaurant in December 2010, and it has consistently ranked on The World's 50 Best Restaurants list. In 2014, it ranked 17th globally. From 2015 to 2017, it was named both the best restaurant in Thailand and the best in Asia according to Asia's 50 Best Restaurants by Restaurant magazine. This marked an improvement from its third-place position in Asia in 2014. Gaggan ranked 10th, 23rd, 7th, and 4th in the world in 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2019, respectively, becoming the first Indian restaurant to enter the top 50.

About Gaggan Anand
Born in Kolkata to Punjabi parents, Gaggan Anand initially pursued music, performing as a drummer in local rock bands before shifting to a culinary career. He attended St. Thomas Boys School in Kidderpore, Kolkata, and later the Indian Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology (IHMCT) in Trivandrum.
After obtaining his diploma, he began as a trainee with the Taj Group before leaving to run a home delivery service in Tollygunge, Kolkata. Anand later moved to Bangkok, where he worked at Red, a restaurant specializing in contemporary Indian cuisine, before opening Gaggan.
