In a major step to improve connectivity and tourism, a direct Vande Bharat train service between Jammu and Srinagar is starting today, which will be flagged off by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw from Jammu Tawi Railway Station, and Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh will also be present during the launch.

Earlier, the train was running only between Srinagar and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra. Now, it has been extended up to Jammu Tawi, making travel easier for passengers. The train will now run with 20 coaches instead of eight, increasing its capacity.
Vande Bharat Train between Jammu & Srinagar
The Vande Bharat train is a semi high-speed train with modern facilities, offering a faster, more comfortable, and reliable journey through the scenic Kashmir Valley. It has been specially designed to handle the region's difficult terrain and extreme cold weather. Advanced heating systems have been installed to ensure comfort for passengers and smooth operation even in very low temperatures. With this extension, passengers can now travel between Jammu and Srinagar in less than five hours. This improved connectivity is expected to boost tourism in popular destinations like Pahalgam, Gulmarg, and Sonmarg. It will also help local residents, support trade, and contribute to the overall development of the region.
