The Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train Project is in full force, and the Railways continue to update the public on a regular basis. With the extension of the project's original target of December 2023, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav stated that it is anticipated to be finished in around 4 years.

In the meantime, this corridor has made actual progress of 32.93 percent in Gujarat & 13.72 percent in Maharashtra. Issues with Maharashtra's land acquisition have been blamed for the delay. The Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR) route, a 21-kilometer section, would cross the water in Thane.

Around 257 kilometres of piling, 180 kilometres foundation, 155 kilometres the pier, & 37 kilometres girder launching have been completed in Gujarat and Dadra & Nagar Haveli out of the total 352 kilometres elevated viaduct.

After land purchase, technical approval, and other related processes are complete, the project's start date can be determined. The Japanese Shinkansen technology, which is renowned for its safety and dependability, forms the foundation of the MAHSR project.Since the invention of the device in 1964, there have been no fatalities documented.

About 16 kilometers of the tunnel will be dug using three tunnel boring machines, and the final five kilometres will be dug using the New Austrian Tunnelling Method (NATM). The depth of the channel will range from 25 to 65 metres, with the deepest construction location in Thane being 114 metres below Parsik Hills.

Three depots will be constructed for the bullet train, two of which will be in Gujarat & one of which will be in Maharashtra. The Surat depot and the Sabarmati depot will each have one depot. Recently, the Sabarmati depot construction site was shown in a photo posted by the Ministry of Railways.

According to reports, the bullet train will travel the distance from Mumbai to Ahmedabad in just 3 hours as opposed to the Bhuj AC Superfast Express's fastest time of six hours and ten minutes. The travel time will be reduced thanks to the train's 320 kilometre per hour speed.

The NHSRCL and MEIL-HCC in a joint venture signed the first contract for the project in March of this year for the design & construction of the underground station at BKC. Megha Engineering & Infrastructure Ltd and Hindustan Construction Company Ltd are said to be the partners in the JV, which has been given 54 months to complete the work at a total cost of Rs 3,681 crore.
