Extension of Kashmir Trains Cancellation

According to a new notice issued by the Office of the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Jammu, the cancelled services will remain suspended from July 31 to August 14. The suspension has been extended to carry out pre-BCM high-temperature destressing work of Long Welded Rails (LWR) along the Banihal-Baramulla section.

The three passenger train services affected by the extension are:

• Train No. 74615: Banihal-Baramulla Passenger Train

• Train No. 74632: Baramulla-Budgam Passenger Train

• Train No. 74628: Budgam-Banihal Passenger Train

Among these, the 10:50 am Banihal-Baramulla passenger train is an important daily service used by many passengers, including students, office workers and regular commuters travelling between Banihal and different parts of the Kashmir Valley. The continued cancellation of this train is expected to affect daily travel plans for many passengers.

Why is the Maintenance Work Necessary?

Railway officials said that the maintenance work is necessary to improve the safety and efficiency of train operations. The rail destressing process helps manage the impact of temperature changes on tracks and reduces the risk of track-related problems, ensuring smoother and safer train movement in the future.

Advisory for Passengers

Passengers travelling on this route have been advised to plan their journeys accordingly and make alternative travel arrangements during the suspension period. Railway authorities have also requested passengers to check the latest train schedules and service updates before starting their trips.
