Heavy rainfall since early Tuesday has disrupted daily life in central and southern parts of Karnataka, including the state capital, Bengaluru. Now after the Yellow Alert from IMD, district administration has announced school holiday on Oct 16th Wednesday. Also suggested companies to allow their employees to work from home. Following instructions many companies have announces WFH tomorrow.

According to India Meteorological Department officials a low pressure area that formed over the Bay of Bengal has triggered rainfall in several parts of southern India. Karnataka is also among these states. Arid regions of Karnataka including Bangalore would witness heavy rainfall in next 24 hours. Situation may prevail for the next three to four days.
Many low-lying areas were waterlogged since Tuesday morning itself. The city recorded 16 mm rainfall in the last 24 hours till 8.30 am on Tuesday. IMD has issued a yellow alert -- indicating worsening weather conditions that could disrupt daily life.
According to the statement by Deputy Commissioner Bangalore Urban, Jagadeesha all the schools and colleges will be shut down tomorrow Oct 16th, due to safety measures. Whereas Thursday 17th Oct is already a holiday for schools on the occasion of Valmiki Jayanti.
Speaking to the TV channels, the Deputy Commissioner issued an advisory urging companies to permit employees to work from home. Post this notification many companies including Verse Innovation, Greynium Information Technologies have announced WFH for the employees based out of Bangalore.
Other districts like Tumakuru, Mysuru, Kodagu, Chikkamagaluru, Hassan, Kolar, Shivamogga and Chikkaballapura in addition to coastal Karnatak are also under the yellow alert. It means heavy rainfall between 6 cm and 11 cm is expected in these cities.
