Kolkata Metro has introduced a special Tourist Smart Card for the upcoming Durga Puja season, making it easier for people to travel across the city during the festive rush, as metro authorities expect daily passenger numbers to rise to 11-12 lakhs. The Durga Puja celebrations, from September 28

to October 2, will draw massive crowds, with thousands of pandal-hoppers moving around the city.
Benefits of Kolkata Metro Tourist Smart Card
As the Tourist Smart Card allows unlimited metro rides within a fixed time period, passengers can buy a three-day card for ₹250 or a five-day card for ₹550. Unlike regular Smart Cards working on a pay-per-ride basis, the Tourist Smart Card provides unlimited travel during its validity and eliminates the need to stand in long queues for tokens or frequent recharges. At the same time, regular Smart Card users will continue to get a 5% bonus on recharges. Both Tourist and regular Smart Cards are available through the "Aamar Kolkata Metro" mobile app.
Metro officials are also encouraging passengers to use digital ticketing options to reduce congestion at stations. Special metro services will begin from Mahalaya on September 21. On this day, the Blue Line will run 182 trains, compared to the usual 130 on Sundays, providing extra convenience. The first trains from Noapara, Dakshineswar, and Dum Dum will leave around 6:50-6:55 am, while the last train timings will remain unchanged. This initiative aims to provide a smooth and hassle-free travel experience for both residents and tourists during Kolkata's most celebrated festival.
