Indian Railways to Start its New Services
According to Pankaj Kumar Singh, CPRO of North Eastern Railway, these trains will shorten travel times, support trade and tourism, and strengthen links between key cities and states. This launch continues the government's efforts to modernize Indian Railways with efficient and advanced services.
• The Varanasi-Khajuraho Vande Bharat Express will link major cultural and religious centres like Prayagraj, Chitrakoot, and Khajuraho, cutting travel time by about 2 hours and 40 minutes. It will make pilgrimages and tourist visits to Khajuraho, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, faster and more convenient.
• The Lucknow-Saharanpur train will complete its journey in 7 hours and 45 minutes, saving nearly an hour. It will benefit passengers from central and western Uttar Pradesh and improve access to Haridwar through Roorkee, boosting regional development.
• The Firozpur-Delhi Vande Bharat will become the fastest train on its route, finishing the trip in 6 hours and 40 minutes. It will strengthen links between Punjab and Delhi, improving opportunities for trade, tourism, and jobs.
• In the South, the Ernakulam-Bengaluru Vande Bharat Express will reduce travel time by over two hours, completing the journey in 8 hours and 40 minutes. It will connect key IT and commercial hubs in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka, encouraging economic growth and tourism.
During his two-day Varanasi visit, PM Modi will also address 3,200 prominent citizens, including educationists, industrialists, and social workers, highlighting ongoing development efforts in his constituency.
