Delhi's Sarita Vihar Flyover Repairs Begin: Check Alternate Routes and Traffic Advisory

Starting October 1, the Sarita Vihar flyover in Delhi will undergo significant repairs, which will partially close its roadways. The Public Works Department (PWD) plans to fix seven expansion joints, bearings, and the flyover's surface. This construction project will affect the daily commute for many drivers.

The Sarita Vihar flyover is an important link connecting Faridabad, Noida, Badarpur, and the southeastern suburbs of Delhi. According to traffic authorities, one half of the flyover's lanes will be closed to traffic until October 30. This decision comes after two years of delays in the repair work, even though the flyover is used by over 100,000 cars daily.

To help manage traffic during this time, the Delhi Traffic Police have issued an advisory with alternative routes for commuters. Those traveling from Ashram on Mathura Road towards Badarpur and Faridabad should use Road number 13-A from the Sarita Vihar flyover slip road and make a U-turn to access Mathura Road again. For those heading from Ashram towards Noida via Mathura Road, the DND flyway from Ashram Chowk is recommended. Additionally, drivers coming from AIIMS, Moolchand, Lajpat Nagar, and West Delhi, aiming for Badarpur or Faridabad, should take Lala Lajpat Rai Marg/Outer Ring Road-Maa Anandmayee Marg and M.B Road to reach their destinations.

Traffic Advisory and Commuter Guidelines

To keep residents and commuters informed about the expected disruptions, the traffic police are using social media. They have shared the dates for the repair work-from October 1 to October 30, 2024-and stressed the importance of following the alternate routes to avoid delays. The traffic department aims to reduce the inconvenience caused by the flyover's closure for the thousands of drivers who use this route every day.

It also reflects the efforts of local authorities to improve road safety and functionality. By addressing the long-needed maintenance of the Sarita Vihar flyover, the PWD is taking important steps to enhance the commuting experience along one of the city's key traffic corridors.

As the work progresses, it will be crucial for the public to cooperate and follow the traffic advisories. This cooperation will help ensure that the disruptions are as brief and manageable as possible.

The upcoming repairs on the Sarita Vihar flyover are a significant project by the PWD to solve long-standing problems. With careful planning and public cooperation, the repairs are expected to lead to better safety and convenience for all road users in the area.
