Today Delhi's weather is expected to bring a short break from the ongoing heat, as rain and thunderstorms are likely across the city, which will provide some relief after several hot days. However, this comfort will not last long, as temperatures are set to rise again in the coming days, possibly leading to heatwave conditions.

The rain and thunderstorms today may lower the temperature slightly, with the maximum expected to be around 33°C. Even though this is cooler than previous days, high humidity levels reaching up to 90% will make the weather feel sticky and uncomfortable. The combination of moisture in the air and warm temperatures will create a feeling of heaviness, especially during the afternoon hours.
Delhi Heat Alert
From May 6 onwards, the temperature is expected to increase steadily. It may rise to around 36°C on May 6 and 37°C on May 7. Between May 8 and May 10, temperatures could reach 38-39°C. As the clouds clear and sunlight becomes stronger, the city will experience more intense heat during the day, adding to people's discomfort. After the brief rainy spell, Delhi may soon face heatwave-like conditions. The drop in humidity and the arrival of dry, hot winds will make the heat more intense. These conditions can be harmful, especially for those who spend long hours outdoors.
Advisory for Residents
People are advised to take precautions to stay safe during the heat. Drinking enough water, avoiding direct sunlight during peak hours, and watching for signs of heat-related problems like tiredness, dizziness, or headaches are important. Extra care should be taken for children and elderly people, as they are more vulnerable to extreme heat.
