After a long and severe heat spell, the monsoon has finally arrived in Delhi, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) announced on Friday. This arrival of the Southwest Monsoon has brought much-needed relief to Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) after weeks of scorching heat.

In an official statement, the IMD said, "The Southwest Monsoon has further advanced into the entire Delhi region." The Northern Limit of Monsoon now passes through various cities, including Jaisalmer, Churu, Bhiwani, Delhi, Aligarh, Kanpur, Ghazipur, Gonda, Kheri, Moradabad, Dehradun, Una, Pathankot, and Jammu.
The arrival of the monsoon has provided much-needed respite from the high temperatures that Delhi and NCR residents have been enduring. The rain has brought a significant drop in temperatures, offering a welcome change.
However, the rainfall has also caused water-logging in several areas. Many residents took to social media to share visuals of the downpour. While they appreciated the relief from the heat, some expressed frustration over the water-logged roads and the challenges it brings.
IMD scientist Soma Sen informed ANI, "Monsoon has advanced today. Safdarjung observatory recorded the highest rainfall of 228 mm in Delhi between 2:30 am and 5:30 am, and the rest of the observatories reported heavy rainfall."
Meanwhile, residence of Delhi has shared videos of waterlogged streets in Delhi on X
Delhi Weather Forecast
Heavy rainfall is expected to continue over North India for the next few days. Soma Sen added, "In Northern India, for the next 2-3 days, there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall, especially in Uttar Pradesh. For Delhi also, we have issued a heavy rain warning for tomorrow and the day after tomorrow."
The arrival of the monsoon has brought a mix of relief and challenges to Delhi. While the rain has cooled down the city and provided a break from the intense heat, it has also led to water-logging and difficulties on the roads. Residents are advised to stay updated with weather reports and take necessary precautions during this period of heavy rainfall.
The long-awaited monsoon is here, bringing both relief and a reminder of the need for improved infrastructure to handle such weather conditions.
