Heavy rain hit many parts of Delhi-NCR after the India Meteorological Department issued urgent short-term warnings. The weather department predicted intense thunderstorms, lightning, hailstorms, and strong winds over the next two to three hours, and their impact has already been seen across the region.

Delhi Rain Alert
IMD has issued Red alerts for several districts in Delhi, including Central, East, New, North, North East, North West, Shahdara, South West, and West Delhi. In Haryana, districts such as Bhiwani, Charkhi Dadri, Hisar, Jhajjar, Jind, Karnal, Panipat, Rohtak, and Sonipat are also under red alert. Additionally, Mahoba in Uttar Pradesh is facing similar warnings. These areas are expected to experience severe thunderstorms with lightning, hail, and strong winds reaching speeds of 60 to 80 kmph, along with moderate rainfall of about 5 to 15 mm per hour.
In an update issued around midnight on May 4, the IMD stated that thunderstorms and dust storms with light to moderate rain and lightning are very likely in many parts of Delhi and nearby areas. This weather activity is also expected to spread to parts of Haryana, western Uttar Pradesh, and some regions of Rajasthan within the next two hours.
Advisory for Residents
Authorities have advised people to stay indoors as much as possible, avoid standing under trees or weak structures, and limit unnecessary travel. Residents are also urged to follow official updates and safety guidelines, as the weather conditions may change quickly.
