Why Is Delhi Facing Scheduled Power Cuts?

Officials indicated that the temporary outages are linked to routine maintenance, infrastructure upgrades and grid strengthening work. These scheduled shutdowns are commonly carried out during high-demand seasons to improve long-term supply stability and reduce the risk of sudden technical failures.

Such preventive work is intended to support smoother electricity distribution across the city, particularly during periods of heavy summer consumption.

What Residents Should Do During the Outage

People living in affected areas are advised to:

  • Charge mobile phones, laptops and power banks in advance
  • Keep emergency lighting options ready
  • Store adequate drinking water if dependent on electric pumps
  • Complete important electricity-dependent work before the outage window
  • Check for local updates in case restoration timings change

Residents working from home or running businesses that rely heavily on uninterrupted electricity may want to arrange backup options until supply resumes.

While the outages are temporary, planning ahead can help reduce inconvenience through the day.
