Several parts of Delhi will experience scheduled power cuts on Wednesday, August 26, due to maintenance and repair work. Areas in South and West Delhi, including Nangloi, Uttam Nagar, Palam, Paschim Vihar, Hauz Khas, Govindpuri, Kalkaji and Tagore Garden, are likely to see temporary disruptions.
Delhi Power Cut on 26 August
The power cuts have been planned by BSES Rajdhani Power Limited (BRPL) for various works, including network upgrades, transformer maintenance, circuit work and repairs. However, no scheduled power cuts have been announced so far by BSES Yamuna Power Limited (BYPL) or Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (Tata Power-DDL). The earliest shutdown will take place in Nangloi Extension from 9 am to 10:30 am. Power supply in Block 2C and Block 4 ABC will be affected while new LTAB circuit work is carried out. In Mansa Ram Park and Bhagwati Garden Extension, power cuts are scheduled from 10 am to 12 noon for circuit network upgrades and transformer-related work.
Delhi Power Cut Areas
Several parts of Palam will also face disruptions. Sadh Nagar, Kheda Village, Palam Colony, Indra Park and nearby areas may experience a shutdown from 11 am to 12:30 pm. Palam Extension and parts of Mahavir Enclave will face an outage from 11:08 am to 12:38 pm.
Other affected areas include Pradhan Enclave, Paschim Vihar, Tagore Garden, Om Vihar, Nehru Enclave, Kalkaji, Katwaria Sarai and Govindpuri. Depending on the work, outages may last between one and three hours.
Advisory for Residents
Residents are advised to plan their daily activities around the scheduled shutdown. They should also complete important electrical work beforehand. Those dependent on electric water pumps should fill their rooftop water tanks before the power goes off.
The disruptions come after several days of rain in Delhi. Although the rainfall has brought some relief from the heat, fans are still needed when temperatures and humidity rise after the sun comes out. Residents are therefore advised to prepare in advance for the temporary power cuts.
